For more than forty years, the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes has been the subject of an ongoing process of restoration, rehabilitation and transformation. Founded over 700 years ago and still inhabited by a community of Poor Clare nuns, the monastery has evolved through a succession of careful interventions ranging from the conservation of its Gothic fabric to the adaptation of historic spaces and the construction of new facilities. The project has gradually reconciled the demands of contemporary public access with the rhythms of monastic life, understanding heritage not as a frozen monument but as a living institution that continues to evolve through time.
