The EMAV occupies “Block 7” within the former Can Batlló industrial complex and plays a pivotal role in reopening the site to the city. The project preserves the clarity, repetition and structural logic of the existing factory while accommodating new educational programmes through a series of clearly legible and reversible interventions. Large timber insertions organise classrooms, studios and production spaces, creating a flexible framework that can evolve over time. Rather than treating industrial heritage as a static artefact, the project reinterprets it as an active infrastructure for learning, collective exchange and contemporary audiovisual production.
